14:00, November 9, the HIT Herocean "Integrity and Ability" Scholarship Selection and Award Conference 2019 was held in Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT), Weihai. The president of Herocean Mr.Song Senhua and the Director of Human Resources and Administration Ms.Chen Yumin were present at the conference.
The conference began with the presentation from 20 candidates. The student cadres who are active in student work, the scientific research talents with outstanding professional ability and achievements, and the young people who are enthusiastic about public welfare and devoted to social practice gathered here, fully presenting both excellent moral qualities and knowledge.
President Song then shared his understanding of HIT's motto of "strict standards, great efforts" -- that HIT students should regard “have lofty ideals and contribute to the society” as the mission. In action, they should cherish the learning opportunities and conditions , strive for progress with the awareness of being alert to danger in times of peace, and try to be excellent with strict self-discipline. To have "both integrity and ability", they should stay true to our mission and make unremitting efforts. HIT Vice-President Zhao Guoliang later expressed his gratitude to Herocean for the establishment of the “Integrity and Ability" Scholarship. He was gratified by the achievements of the students and encouraged them to take morality as the first, and pay equal stress on integrity and ability, so as to become a positive and determined force of the society.
Finally, 10 students were awarded the Herocean "Integrity and Ability" Scholarship and 10 were nominated, and 17 were awarded the Herocean Grant. The distinguished guests presented awards to them one by one, and the conference ended with group photos.
As an alumnus of 1997 with the major of International Economy and Trade of the Department of Economic Management of HIT (Weihai), President Song has donated more than 3 million yuan to support the development of his Alma Mater, and set up various awards and grants to encourage HIT students to study hard and achieve all-round development in morality, intelligence, physical education and beauty. 2019 is the fourth year of the Herocean "Integrity and Ability" Scholarship selection. Such gratitude and reward will become the expectation and encouragement for students on their way forward, and also practice the Herocean spirit of diligence, sincerity and responsibility.
